Subject: Clarification of My Message to the Bargaining Unit

Dear Colleagues:

In response to my last message regarding the Department of Pediatrics, I received a response from a member stating that the message is somewhat hard to follow. I plead guilty.

This was probably due to the origins of the message.  It was initially written in response to a longish message to me from a member of the faculty of the Department.  That member did not want to have that message published, so I rewrote my response.  I sent it to the entire bargaining unit so that all members might better understand the somewhat intricate politics of the Pediatrics faculty, whose leadership in the faculty practice plan is threatening to take them out of the University by joining the new Medical School at Central Michigan.

If the message was unclear to some, I apologize.  However, I thought that those unit members in Pediatrics would understand it well enough, and that other bargaining unit members would prefer more information rather than less on the matter.

In solidarity,

Charlie
