Title IX Training

Dear Colleague,

Yesterday I sent out to the bargaining unit a message that might have confused the issue of the training matter for the Title IX initiative by the Administration. Title IX is the comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. I understand that the training that is being offered is not mandatory.

The Union is supportive of informing the university community of the need to guard against the existence of sexual harassment on campus. The training that is being offered is voluntary and is likely to be helpful if one wishes to participate in it.

In solidarity

Charlie
