Change In Workloads

The issue of appropriate workload is covered in Article XXIV of the contract that outlines two separate procedures for faculty and academic staff. Although the processes for faculty and academic staff are significantly different, they both require workloads to be “reasonable and fair.”

Both procedures allow for individuals to appeal changes in workloads when they are outside “department norms” (faculty) or when they are considered a “substantial change” in the duties contrary to his/her responsibilities (academic staff).

The appeal procedures feature a joint union-administration review committee and arbitration.
