FOIA/PERA Requests
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a law that gives the public the right to records in public agencies. Any agency being asked to fill a FOIA request must respond to the request within 5 business days. The agency has the option of extending the time for an additional 10 business days, if necessary. The Michigan Public Employment Relations Act (PERA) is the law that granted collective bargaining rights to public employees in Michigan.
